MANTLE, Mickey "The Mick" - (1931-95) American baseball player who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. Mantle played his entire 18-year major-league pro career for the New York Yankees, winning three American League MVP titles and playing for 16 All-Star teams. He played on 12 pennant winners and seven World Championship clubs. Mantle still holds the record for most World Series home runs, RBIs, runs, walks, extra-base hits and total basis. He is legendary for a hard-hitting career and life. Plagued by business deals gone bad, failing health due to alcoholism, addiction to painkillers and years of physical punishment from the sport, the Mick burnt the candle at both ends. He is oft-remembered for quoting football legend Bobby Layne who quipped "if I'd known I was gonna live this long, I'd have taken a lot better care of myself."
Autograph Display Piece consisting of a signed 8"x10" color glossy action shot of Mantle in his batting stance at spring training, signed in blue felt tip pen. Photograph is in very good condition and has been graded by PSA/DNA as well as other auction houses. This authentically-signed photo has been double-matted along with a MLB New York Yankees decal sticker and a Beckett graded 10 baseball card. The ensemble has been professionally matted, under archival glass, and encased in a sleek wooden frame. A handsome collectible certain to increase in value. $ 985.00
