African-American operatic contralto, born in Philadelphia. Considered one of the greatest of American operatic divas.Mesdame Anderson made her operatic debut in 1955 with the Metropolitan Opera as “Ulrica” in Verdi’s “The Masked Ball.”
Signed program dated March 9, 1040, Portland Public Auditorium. Program included works of Purcell, Verachini, Martini, Schubert and Bizet. Professionally matted in a beautiful shade of lavendar along with a complete sheet of mint U.S. commemorative stamps from the Black Heritage Series (37 cent denomination). $250
