Countee Cullen

Black American poet and author; one of the stellar Harlem Renaissance creative force.

Vintage fountain pen signature with sentiment on a small slip of paper. Professionally matted in a rich siena color board along with a typeset copy of his celebrated poem Yet Do I Marvel which ends gloriously with the lines "Yet do I marvel at this curious thing: to make a poet black, and bid him sing!" Accompanied by a 4"x6" sepia tone photo-postcard of an original drawing Winold Reiss (1886-1953). Encased in glass and a handsome wooden frame. A highly desirable ensemble of this great American poet. $450
