DUARTE DE PERON, Maria Eva (Evita) (1919-1952)
Return to Catalogue

First Lady of Argentina. Died of uterine cancer at the age of 33. Wife of Juan Peron whom Evita met in 1944 at a fundraiser. Despite some claims that Evita Peron resorted to ruthless tactics in silencing her opponents and those of her dictator-husband, contemporary historians are reevaluating her life in light of her great work for the underprivileged and, in particular, women. T.Ms.S., being a one-page, small engraved card dated May 4, 1949, in which Eva Peron appoints Maria Fedriani de Gallegos to be a professor of Spanish in the Department of Education. Very boldly signed and in excellent condition. Professionally double-matted with two, vintage, photo-postcards of Peron from that period. Encased in TruVue museum conservation glass and a high-end gilt wooden frame. Please note: signed documents run upwards of $2,500 and official signed portraits as much as $5,000. This is a very affordable yet desirable alternative. $ 1,475
