DS – A small steel engraved calling card as Cardinal-Patriarch
of Venice, on which the pope-saint has penned “C.P.”
(with thanks). Accompanied by a small postmarked envelope entirely
in his handwriting. Both items have been professionally matted in
moiré white silk board along with an attractive photo-image
of the pontiff as well as a commemorative brass plaque. Encased
in museum conservation glass and a beautiful gilt-wood frame.

Ordained in 1858; consecrated Bishop of Mantua (1884); named cardinal
and Patriarch of Venice (1893); elected pope in 1903. Pius X was
a champion of social reforms. He also reformed the liturgy, re-codified
canon law, and was canonized in 1954. His Feast day is August 21st.
