BENEDIKT XVI (Ratzinger) (1927- )
265th pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church; former prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and Dean of the College of Cardinals. A longtime university professor and onetime colleague and supporter of theologian Hans Kung of Tubingen. Went on to become associated with the ultra-conservative moment in the church. Former archbishop of Munich. Named a cardinal in 1977. Signed photograph, measure 5”x7,” boldly signed in red marker pen at the top of the image. Professionally matted in off white linen board with gilt insets along with a contemporary color litho print portrait as pope, plus a set of three Vatican mint stamps commemorating his ascendancy to the papacy.
