American illustrator-artist. Long associated with the National Park Service as an illustrator. One of the first to bring to realization the world-renowned image of “Smokey the Bear.”
Original hand-drawn image of “Smokey” accomplished in black marker pen on a 3”x5” card which Wendelin has signed. Professionally matted in a hunter green board along with a 5”x7” color litho print image of “Smokey” as well as a plate of four, mint, US commemorative “Smokey the Bear” stamps. A whimsical display piece certain to increase in value. A few dealers are asking over $1,000 for a signed “Smokey” image alone, without conservation and associative materials. Ours is affordably priced. Overall measure 14”x11.25”. SOLD.
